About Kelvin Boston

Kelvin Boston is a well-known financial journalist, public speaker and author who dedicated his life for the financial education of people. He believes that the key to financial success lies in education. He spent his childhood in the public housing projects of South Wilmington, Delaware. After he finished Lincoln University (PA.), he returned home and started a housing counseling service helping poor people buy their homes. Today the South Wilmington Housing Counseling Service is one of the leading community housing development organizations in Delaware.

In the eighties Kelvin Boston moved to Toledo, Ohio and started to work at American Express as a financial planner. Soon he became Mid-West Regional Manager for Financial Planning. The next stop in Bostons career was Detroit, Michigan where he produced the nation's first weekly financial television series for color people named Financial Insight (later called Color of Money). By 1992, this program was aired by more than two hundred public television stations nationwide.

Kelvin Bostons next financial series, Moneywise became an official PBS series and began airing on public television stations nationwide. Today, Kevin Bostons series is the premiere multi-cultural financial affairs television series of the public television. In 2003, people in 83 million households could watch Moneywise. In addition, the series is also shown on the Armed Forces Television Network, reaching almost 1 million military households in 177 countries around the world.

Kelvin Boston is the author of two books: Who's Afraid To Be a Millionaire: Mastering Financial and Emotional Success and Smart Money Moves for African Americans. Both works teach strategies and attitudes needed for wealth building, such as managing credit, getting out of debt, owning a home, planning for the future, buying life insurance, becoming self-employed and investing in stocks. Bostons advice takes into consideration the African American attitudes about money, spending, and saving.
